Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will miss Nigeria’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea‑Bissau after sustaining a right adductor muscle strain.

The injury was confirmed in a report by Punch Nigeria, which stated that the forward’s condition will keep him out of the two fixtures scheduled for the qualifying campaign.

Osimhen, who has been a key figure in Nigeria’s attack, will be unavailable for selection, forcing head coach José Peseiro to reshuffle his forward line for the upcoming games.

Nigeria’s AFCON qualifiers are part of the tournament’s preliminary round, with the Super Eagles aiming to secure a place in the 2027 edition of Africa’s premier football competition.

The team will look to other attacking options to fill the void left by Osimhen as they prepare to face Madagascar and Guinea‑Bissau in the next round of qualifiers.
