Abia State Governor Alex Otti has publicly declared that he will not act as a political godfather, stating that the choice of his successor will be left to the electorate in 2031.
In a recent statement, Otti emphasised that the next gubernatorial election will be held in 2031 and that he will not seek to influence the outcome or impose a particular candidate.
He said,

Otti’s remarks come as Abia State, located in southeastern Nigeria, approaches the 2031 election cycle. The state, with a population of over 4 million people, has been governed by the All Progressives Congress since 2019.
