Local hunters, known as Yan Bula, ambushed and killed two suspected bandits in Falgore Forest, Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State, after the criminals had collected a ₦10 million ransom for the release of a 45‑year‑old man. The incident, which took place at about midnight on Saturday, saw the ransom recovered intact and the victim, Kabiru Aliyu of Falgore Village, freed unharmed.
Aliyu was abducted on 11 September 2026 and held captive for several days before the kidnappers demanded the ransom. According to Police Public Relations Officer CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspects emerged from the forest to collect the money and, after paying, were intercepted by the hunters while returning to their hideout.
During the ambush, two of the bandits were neutralised and the third escaped with injuries. Police recovered the full ₦10 million from the neutralised suspects. Preliminary investigations identified one of the killed men as Dogo Isah, a commercial motorcycle rider from Maigwanda Village in Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and confirmed that the suspects had come from that village.
Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the Yan Bula hunters for supporting security operations under Operation Kukan Kura. He directed area commanders, divisional officers and tactical teams to search the forest and surrounding communities for the fleeing suspect and to intensify efforts to arrest him and recover any weapons used by the group.
The rescued victim was debriefed, medically examined and reunited with his family. Police assured residents of their commitment to protecting lives and property in the region.
