Two giant pandas arrived at Zoo Atlanta after a 16‑hour flight from China and a police‑escorted transfer from the airport, where they will soon be on display for visitors.
The custom‑built aircraft carried the pandas from Chengdu, China, to Hartsfield‑Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Zoo staff and a police escort guided the animals from the terminal to their new enclosure at the zoo.
Zoo Atlanta officials say the pandas are acclimating to their new environment and will be introduced to the public in the coming days.
The arrival follows a long‑term partnership between the Chinese government and the zoo, aimed at conservation and breeding of the endangered species.
Skyler Henry, a spokesperson for the zoo, said the animals are healthy and eager to explore their new home.
