Martin Camus Mimb, a Cameroonian journalist and sports analyst, has publicly defended footballer Carlos Baleba after criticism that was attributed to former England footballer Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard’s remarks about Baleba sparked a backlash, prompting Mimb to respond in a forceful manner. He said he would not hold back his words in addressing the comments.
In his statement, Mimb called the criticism “unfair” and urged a more respectful dialogue regarding Baleba’s performance and potential.
Baleba, a Cameroonian forward, has been in the spotlight for his recent performances, while Gerrard, known for his playing and managerial career, has been vocal about player development.
Camus Mimb’s outburst underscores the growing debate over how international figures should speak about African talent, with many calling for greater sensitivity and support for players like Baleba.
