Pupils and teachers in all public secondary schools across the Osogbo, Olorunda, Irepodun and Orolu Local Government Areas of Osun State received 100,000 free exercise books over the weekend, a move aimed at easing the start of the new academic session.
The distribution took place in Osogbo and was overseen by Desmond Adekanola, Project Coordinator of the ITK Foundation, who handed out the notebooks on behalf of the foundation’s chairman, Ibraheem Taofeek Kayode.
“This program involves distributing 100,000 free exercise books to students. It stems from Ibrahim Taofeek Kayode’s philanthropic mission to support young people and ease financial burdens on parents,” Adekanola said.
Adekanola praised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Murtala Jimoh, for approving the exercise and affirmed that the foundation intends to make the distribution an annual event.
The initiative targets 50 public secondary schools in the Osogbo Federal Constituency, ensuring that every student, teacher and principal in these institutions receives a notebook.
While Kayode is identified as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Federal Constituency in the 2027 elections, Adekanola stressed that the outreach is “purely a philanthropic gesture driven by his commitment to helping others, not politics.”
Looking ahead, the foundation plans to extend the programme to other constituencies, particularly within Osun Central, after completing the rollout in Kayode’s home communities.
