Former Sydney childcare worker Ashley Paul Griffith has been charged with 202 additional counts of child abuse, including allegations of child rape, according to New South Wales police.
The charges relate to 23 alleged victims, aged between one and five years old, who were in Griffith’s care at a Sydney childcare centre. Police described the allegations as “deeply disturbing,” noting that the offences are said to have occurred between 2014 and 2017.
Griffith, identified as one of Australia’s most notorious paedophiles, was recently extradited from Queensland to New South Wales. The new charges were laid just days after his transfer to the state where the alleged offences took place.
The expansion of the case highlights the scale of the investigation into Griffith’s conduct while working in the childcare sector. Authorities have not provided further details on the specific nature of the 202 charges beyond the inclusion of rape and other abuse offences.
Griffith is now facing hundreds of charges in total, following the initial legal proceedings that led to his extradition. The case remains a significant focus for NSW law enforcement as they pursue justice for the young victims involved.
