Nigeria’s Flamingos secured a 4‑2 victory over Ghana’s Black Maidens on Friday night, claiming their second WAFU B U‑17 Girls Cup title.
The match began with a double from the Nigerian side, as Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and captain Chidi Harmony opened the scoring in the first half.
Just before the hour mark, Nigeria were reduced to ten men when Elizabeth Adesuyi was sent off, putting the team under pressure.
Ghana fought back when Seidatu Wahab pulled one back four minutes later, but Nigeria answered with a quick succession of goals from Mary Dunstan and Kaosarat Akanji, the latter scoring three minutes from time. Ghana’s Gloria Ameaa levelled the score on the dot of 90 minutes.
Despite the late equaliser, the Flamingos held on to win the match and lift the WAFU B U‑17 Girls Cup for a second time.
