At least eight teams were eliminated from the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA U‑20 Women’s World Cup after Thursday’s fixtures.
The teams that bowed out are Argentina, China, Portugal, the United States, England, Japan, France and Poland. Their defeats came at the hands of Nigeria, Italy, Spain, Brazil, England, Canada, Colombia, North Korea, South Korea, and Italy respectively.
England fell 3‑0 to Nigeria’s Falconets, while France lost 3‑1 to Canada. Colombia edged Poland 1‑0 and North Korea beat Japan 2‑0.
Argentina was defeated 1‑0 by South Korea, China was beaten by Italy, Portugal lost to Spain, and the United States were overcome by Brazil.
With the Round of 16 concluded, the remaining teams will advance to the quarter‑finals of the tournament.
