Senator Umeh Slams Tinubu over Fresh Borrowing Request
Akwa Ibom Senator, Victor Umeh, has criticized President Bola Tinubu's plan to borrow more funds for the Nigerian government.
Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, spoke on Channels Television's Politics Today program, expressing concern over the current administration's economic situation. He emphasized the poor management of Nigeria's resources, leading to citizens' suffering.
"We are overborrowing. Citizens are groaning. We are suffering. Even the rich also cry now in Nigeria. The resources in the country have been poorly managed," Umeh said.
The senator's comments came in response to President Tinubu's request to the National Assembly for approval to borrow fresh funds.
"Why is the government still borrowing despite the removal of fuel subsidy and increasing revenue?" Umeh questioned.

"President Tinubu should cut costs in governance before seeking to borrow more funds," he advised.
