Former Aston Villa captain Gabriel Agbonlahor has publicly criticised Manchester United striker Matheus Cunha for his lacklustre attacking output this season, saying the Brazilian’s ego is “up there, but you’re doing nothing.”
Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor pointed out that Cunha has managed only one assist and no goals in four Premier League appearances, while fans and pundits focus on Marcus Rashford’s performances. “Cunha: one assist, zero goals in four games. I’m looking at him like your ego is up there, but you aren’t really doing it,” he said.
Since the start of the 2026‑27 campaign, Cunha has been the Red Devils’ first‑choice attacking option ahead of Benjamin Sesko, but he has yet to score in the league. His only goal of the season came in the opening UEFA Champions League fixture against Sabah Baku.
Manchester United have suffered three defeats in six matches across all competitions this season, raising questions about the forward’s ability to lead the attack.
In his first season at Old Trafford, Cunha recorded 10 goals and four assists from 35 appearances.
