Arsenal were defeated 3-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, ending the Gunners’ promising start to the Premier League season.
Brighton opened the scoring with a goal from Pascal Gross, before Charalampos Kostoulas doubled the lead before the break. Chema Andrés added a third for the Seagulls in the second half.
“I am really disappointed. In the first 20 or 30 minutes the number of technical errors put us constantly under pressure. It was all related to the start,” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told MOTD.
Arteta said the loss was a “big lesson to learn” and praised Brighton for their performance. He added that the team had “been remarkable” since the World Cup, but that “today there is a lot to learn.”
He also noted that the international break had given the team more time to recover, but that “in any game you can get highly exposed if you don’t do what you need to do.” The manager concluded that Arsenal were “very far from our level” in the match.
