Elections across all 17 local government areas of Enugu State saw a large turnout of voters, with the exercise described as largely peaceful.
In Igbo‑Eze North, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Chris Onyekachi Simon, who had just cast his vote in Umu Ozzi Ward 8, said the high voter participation was a sign of the party’s acceptance in the state. He thanked Governor Peter Mbah and the local electorate for their support, pledging to provide quality service and to restore peace to all communities in the area.
At Essodo Ward in Uda, the APC’s Dennis Agbo, who represents the Igbo‑Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, thanked President Bola Tinubu for the favourable consideration given to the South East. He highlighted that the president’s economic reforms enable state governors and local government chairmen to launch large projects that deliver the benefits of democracy to the people. Agbo also noted that the party’s growing acceptance in Enugu would make the forthcoming general elections a smooth ride for the APC.
Vanguard reported that no other political parties fielded candidates for the local government elections in Enugu State.
