Enugu State’s government announced on Thursday that it has suspended a traditional ruler, the ministry said in a statement released in the state capital.
The announcement was made by Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs Charles Egumgbe, who conveyed the decision through the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs’ Public Relations Officer, Emeka Nebeife.
In the statement, Commissioner Egumgbe said the suspension was based on specific reasons that were detailed to the public, though the exact nature of those reasons was not disclosed in the brief release.
Traditional rulers in Enugu, as in much of Nigeria, play a ceremonial and advisory role in local governance, and the state’s chieftaincy ministry oversees their conduct and relations with the government.
