England will face a Western Australia XI in a 50‑over warm‑up match at the WACA Ground in Perth before the November ODI series against Australia.
The fixture, scheduled for the WACA – a historic venue that has hosted countless international games – will give the England side a chance to test their batting and bowling against local talent.
The decision follows criticism that England had not played any Australian opposition in the lead‑up to last winter’s Ashes, where the team was humbled by the hosts.
England’s coaching staff say the warm‑up will help the squad fine‑tune strategies and build confidence ahead of the five‑match ODI series that will begin later in the month.
Both teams will be looking to use the series to assess their form and make adjustments before the next major international fixtures.
