Cameroon finished the opening round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign as the leader of its group, after securing a victory in the first matchday.
The national team, known as the Lions, earned three points from the win, putting them ahead of their group rivals at the outset of the qualification process.
The AFCON 2027 qualifiers feature a series of groups in which African nations compete for a place in the tournament scheduled for 2027. Each team plays home and away matches, with the top side in each group automatically qualifying.
Cameroon, a five‑time AFCON champion and one of the continent’s most successful football nations, will look to build on this early advantage as the qualifying campaign progresses.
