Under the new measures, health officials will increase monitoring of suspected cases and strengthen laboratory testing capacity to identify any outbreaks early. Rapid‑response teams will be on standby to investigate and contain potential incidents.
In addition to the technical steps, the government has launched a public sensitisation campaign aimed at educating residents about the signs and symptoms of both diseases and the importance of seeking prompt medical attention.
While no cases of Ebola or diphtheria have been reported in Ekiti so far, authorities say the proactive approach is part of a broader effort to safeguard public health across Nigeria.
