Saudi Arabia announced on Friday, 30 October, that it is suspending all travel to Kenya and halting the issuance of visas for Kenyan nationals, according to a statement posted on the Saudi Press Agency’s official X account.
The decision follows epidemiological assessments carried out by Saudi health authorities, which concluded that additional precautionary measures were needed to protect public health.
Under the new restrictions, airlines, travel agencies and other operators are instructed not to facilitate journeys to Kenya, and Saudi embassies and consulates will not process visa applications for travelers from Kenya until further notice.
Ebola, a viral hemorrhagic fever that has caused recent outbreaks in East Africa, has prompted several countries to adopt similar travel and entry controls as part of broader containment strategies.
The Saudi Press Agency’s announcement did not specify the duration of the suspension or provide details on any additional health screenings that may be implemented for travelers from other regions.
