Health officials in the DRC have intensified surveillance and contact tracing efforts across the affected zones. The rapid expansion of the outbreak has prompted additional support from international partners, including the WHO and Médecins Sans Frontières.
In the last month, the number of new cases has risen sharply, raising concerns about the effectiveness of current containment measures. Local authorities have urged residents to seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms such as fever, vomiting, or unexplained bleeding.
Experts note that the DRC has previously faced several Ebola outbreaks, with the current wave being the most widespread in recent years. The country’s fragile health infrastructure and ongoing conflict in some regions complicate response efforts.
WHO officials continue to monitor the situation closely and are coordinating with national health ministries to deploy additional resources, including vaccination teams and mobile treatment units, to curb the spread of the disease.
