Popular content creator and actor Debo Adedayo, better known as Mr Macaroni, publicly thanked Mavin Records founder Don Jazzy for financial support that began in his university days. The Nigerian star posted an emotional message on X on Saturday, reflecting on a period of hardship that had brought him to the brink of giving up.
In the same week, veteran actor Peter Fatomilola recalled receiving a ₦1 million gift from Mr Macaroni after a film shoot, following an earlier ₦200 000 “fuel money” contribution on another set. The revelations sparked widespread praise from fans and colleagues, many of whom shared personal anecdotes of the content creator’s generosity.
Mr Macaroni said he cried after reading messages from people recounting how he had helped them over the years—many of which he could not even remember. “I cried so much last night and this morning. I have seen lots of messages from different people about things I did for them at different times most of which I don’t even remember,” he wrote.
He described himself as someone who has always been more comfortable giving than receiving, noting that people often assumed he had plenty and that he found it difficult to ask for help. “I have always believed in my heart that the only reason God has given to me is to give it back,” he added.
Mr Macaroni revealed that he faced severe tests in recent years, reaching a point where he almost gave up after seeking help from multiple quarters. He credited an unnamed person—whom he said would be upset if named—for helping him settle all his debts. “God used one person to settle all that I owed! And this help came over and over again! I don’t think any sane person would do what he did for me without God’s intervention,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to his close circle, Mr Macaroni & Friends, and singled out Don Jazzy, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, and Pastor Bolaji for special appreciation. “To Don Jazzy, who has been giving me since my university days up till now, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do, not just for me but for so many others!!!” he wrote. “To my brother Victor Osimhen and Pastor Bolaji!!! Thank youuuu.”
Mr Macaroni said he is now in a better place, learning and focusing on things that make him happy, and that he has no regrets about helping others. “I don’t and will never regret anything I have ever done in my life to make the lives of others better in even the smallest way possible,” he stressed.
