Walt Disney Company has appointed Cathleen Taff as president of its newly combined Disney Entertainment – Studios and Consumer Products team. The leadership change takes effect on October 4, marking a significant restructuring of the company’s global licensing and publishing operations.
Under the new organizational structure, the global licensing and publishing businesses will move under the Disney Entertainment – Studios division. This consolidation aims to streamline operations by placing these key revenue-generating units under a single executive leadership umbrella.
Operational Changes
While most consumer product functions are shifting to the new combined team, certain retail and merchandise operations will remain within the existing Disney Experiences division. Specifically, the following entities will stay put under Disney Experiences:
- Disney Parks Merchandise
- Disney Store
- DisneyStore.com
This distinction ensures that merchandise sold directly in parks and through the company’s dedicated retail channels remains aligned with the guest experience strategy, while broader licensing and publishing efforts are integrated with the studio’s content production.
Cathleen Taff, who was most recently serving as president of a separate Disney entity, will now oversee the expanded portfolio. Her appointment reflects the company’s ongoing effort to align its creative content with its commercial product strategies in a more unified manner.
