Matt Dumba, the 32‑year‑old defenseman, has announced his retirement from the National Hockey League after a 13‑season career that saw him play for five different teams.
Dumba, who earned the 2020 King Clancy Memorial Trophy for his leadership on and off the ice, will finish his professional playing days following a season with the Minnesota Wild.
Over the course of his career, Dumba has been known for his defensive skill and community involvement, traits that earned him the prestigious award that honours players who best exemplify leadership qualities on and off the ice.
His decision to hang up his skates comes after a decade and a half of competing at the highest level of the sport, during which he contributed to several playoff campaigns and served as a veteran presence in the locker room.
