At a recent meeting of mothers in Awka, Anambra State, attendees were shocked to learn that 36‑year‑old Anulika Onyeanusia has been arrested in Onitsha on allegations of child pornography.
The case centres on a video that reportedly shows Onyeanusia using sex toys on her eight‑year‑old daughter and uploading the footage to a pornographic platform. Police traced the mother, who has allegedly confessed to the act, and the child has been placed in protective custody by the state government.
During the meeting, Akurose Ibezim, a prominent FMCG distributor, expressed her disbelief and condemnation of the alleged behaviour. “Even Jezebel with all wickedness could not have done this to her own daughter,” she said. “The government should properly prosecute her. This is a clear abomination.”
Law enforcement officials said they acted swiftly after the video went viral, and Onyeanusia is currently in police custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
“Imagine the lifetime psychological scar she has put on that girl,” Ibezim added. “She will become an object of ridicule in the neighbourhood.”
Child protection authorities in Anambra State have reiterated that any form of sexual exploitation of minors is a serious offence under Nigerian law, and victims are afforded legal and psychological support.
The incident has sparked a broader discussion about the responsibilities of parents and the dangers of online content creation that may exploit vulnerable individuals.
