Como secured a 2‑0 Serie A victory over Sassuolo on Saturday, with Greece striker Anastasios Douvikas netting a brace in the second half. The win, which followed a 4‑1 Champions League triumph against Manchester United, lifted Como to fourth place in the league, just two points behind early leaders Inter Milan.
The match was a hard‑fought affair, with Como struggling for long periods against a stubborn Sassuolo side. Douvikas, who has scored five goals in his last four games and eight in all competitions this season, delivered the decisive goals in the space of 11 minutes after the break.
Como’s recent form has seen the club qualify for Europe for the first time in its history last season, and the current win cements their status as a serious contender in Italy’s top flight.
Inter Milan will host Fiorentina on Sunday, while Roma look to climb to the top of the table in their visit to Napoli. Second‑placed Lazio will also aim for the summit in their home game against Parma.
