Actress Carrie Coon will be the inaugural recipient of the Vancouver International Film Festival’s new Luminary Award in the acting category, presented on Oct. 4 in Vancouver, Canada.
The Luminary Award, introduced by the festival to honor “excellence and dedication to the art of moving image,” marks the first time the organization has recognized an actor with this distinction.
Coon is best known for her performances in the HBO series “The White Lotus,” “The Gilded Age,” and the critically acclaimed drama “The Leftovers.”
Following the award ceremony, she is scheduled to take part in a wide‑ranging conversation with festival representatives and fellow artists.
The Vancouver International Film Festival, one of Canada’s leading film events, added the Luminary Award to its program to highlight the contributions of artists across film and television.
