Atiku names Akobundu as DG of ADC Campaign Council
Speaking on the formation of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Campaign Council and Presidential Campaign Management Committee, the spokesperson for Atiku, Phrank Shaibu, has announced Senator Augustine Akobundu as the Director-General (DG) of the council.
The announcement comes as part of the restructuring of the party's campaign structure, aiming to streamline operations and ensure effective coordination.
Shaibu highlighted Senator Akobundu's extensive experience in both the military and politics, stating that his appointment will be beneficial in overseeing the nationwide operations of the campaign council.
Senator Akobundu is a graduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy and has held various positions in the party's administration, including National Vice Chairman, South-East Zonal Chairman, and National Organizing Secretary.
Prior to his political career, Akobundu served in the Nigerian Army, retiring as a Colonel in 2000.
The ADC National Campaign Council is expected to be headed by Kashim Imam, while Nasir El-Rufai will serve as the Deputy Chairman.
The council comprises of six operational directorates, each headed by a Deputy Director-General. These directorates include: Strategy and Planning, Fundraising, Publicity and Publicity, Administration and Finance, Logistics and Operations, and Legal Affairs.
The Presidential Campaign Management Committee will be chaired by the National Chairman of the ADC, Senator Iyiola Omisore, while the National Chairman of the party, Senator Magnus Abe, will serve as Deputy Chairman.
The committee will oversee the implementation of the council's strategic plans and ensure effective coordination between the council and the Presidential Campaign Council.
