Ijebu chiefs have dissolved the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, replacing it with a new body known as the Adele Oba Awujale in Council to manage affairs in Ijebu‑O.
The move marks a shift in the traditional governance structure of the Ijebu people, who are part of the Yoruba ethnic group in Nigeria's Ogun State.
According to reports, the new council will take over the administrative duties that were previously handled by the interregnum body.
Details on the composition and functions of the Adele Oba Awujale in Council have not yet been released.
Traditional leaders in the region have historically played a key role in local governance and dispute resolution.
