The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it has reviewed the party’s structures nationwide and declared it ready for the 2027 general elections.
The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, made this known at a news conference on Saturday at the end of the committee’s three-day retreat in Maiduguri.
Yilwatda said the review covered the party’s structures from the national, state, local government and ward levels to polling units.
He added that the assessment gave the party what he described as “clean bill of health”, noting that the NWC considered the APC strong and prepared for the 2027 elections.
The chairman said the NWC also passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima and other candidates who emerged from the party’s primary elections.
According to him, the committee will intensify reconciliation efforts at the state, local government and ward levels to address internal differences and strengthen the party.
He urged state chapters that had yet to establish reconciliation committees to do so, saying the initiative would help to consolidate the party ahead of the elections.
Yilwatda said the NWC would take active role in engagements and campaign activities aimed at communicating the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration to Nigerians.
On recent elections, he said the committee reviewed the outcomes of off-cycle and by-elections and was satisfied with APC’s performance.
He cited Ogun and Delta as states where the party had previously not won elections but recorded victories in recent contests.
The chairman said the APC won four of five elections conducted the previous week, while losing one, describing its performance in the lost election as strong.
He commended the Borno Government for hosting the retreat and thanked newsmen for the coverage.
He also condoled with the government and people of Niger over the death of 37 miners.
