Political analyst Dickson Iroegbu accused Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo of “witch‑hunting” Nigerian Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi over a debt controversy that has resurfaced during the 2025 election cycle.
The allegation came during a Friday interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, where Iroegbu said the state government had released public debt records that it claimed were left by Obi’s administration. Obi, who served as governor of Anambra from 2015 to 2023, countered the claims by publishing his handover document, which he said contained all relevant financial information.
“We know this is a political witch‑hunt by Governor Chukwuma Soludo. It’s unfortunate, and we call it the crab mentality,” Iroegbu said. “The facts are there, and we challenge the government to stop playing to the gallery and release the documents that can be presented as evidence.”
In his remarks, Iroegbu stressed that Obi’s administration had not handed over the records directly to Soludo, but that all documents and claims were properly documented. He warned that the governor’s actions could be judged by history as part of a broader pattern of political harassment.
