Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested the notorious kidnapper, Olisa Oyelu, alias 'Obele', after he had been in hiding for the past five years following the 2023 kidnapping incident that led to the death of the victim.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the arrest in a statement.
Ikenga revealed that the arrest was a result of sustained intelligence gathering and painstaking investigation by police operatives.
He said, "In the early hours of September 23rd, 2026, Olisa Oyelu alias 'Obele', aged 25 years, was arrested. He is the last identified member of the notorious armed robbery and kidnapping gang led by a suspected criminal known as 'Pincode' and four others are already in custody, awaiting the court's decision.
Ikenga stated that the command views the arrest as a significant development in the ongoing investigation and reiterated the police's commitment to ensuring that all individuals found to have taken part in the crime are brought to justice.
