Claire Chadwick, a 40‑year‑old from Cardiff, Wales, died in Nigeria after losing her 37‑week‑old baby girl and developing sepsis that progressed to septic shock.
Chadwick had relocated to Nigeria with her husband, Ibrahim, to start a new life together. The couple had built a following on TikTok and Instagram by sharing videos about their relationship, faith and food challenges.
Her sister, Shannon, said the family’s priority was to bring both Claire and her unborn daughter back to the UK for a dignified burial. “More than anything, we want them both returned so they can be laid to rest with dignity, surrounded by the family who love them,” Shannon told reporters.
To cover the cost of repatriation, the family launched a GoFundMe appeal for £10,000. The fundraiser has already raised more than the target amount.
Claire leaves behind a 19‑year‑old son who lives in Wales, her husband Ibrahim and other relatives. “She was a woman who lived her life in her own way and she will leave a lasting impression on everyone who knew her,” Shannon added.
The family thanked REST, a UK charity that supports relatives of people who die suddenly or tragically abroad, for its assistance during this difficult time.
