Ifeanyi Odii, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ebonyi State’s governorship, has denied reports that he has stepped down for incumbent Governor Francis Nwifuru ahead of the 2027 election.
Odii, who was selected by the PDP as its flag‑bearer, issued a statement rejecting the claim that he had relinquished his candidacy.
The allegation surfaced in the run‑up to the 2027 Ebonyi governorship election, a contest that will see the incumbent governor seek a second term.
In his response, Odii reaffirmed that he remains the PDP’s candidate and will continue to campaign for the governorship.
The election, scheduled for 2027, will be a key political event in Ebonyi State, located in southeastern Nigeria, where the PDP and other parties are preparing to contest the seat.
