Ogun State PDP chieftain Segun Showunmi has called on non‑indigene associations and hunters’ groups to support President Bola Tinubu’s re‑election campaign in 2027.
Showunmi, a senior member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, urged members of non‑indigenous communities and local hunters’ organisations to mobilise in favour of Tinubu, who is seeking a second term as Nigeria’s president.
The call comes as the 2027 presidential election approaches. Tinubu, who has been in office since 2023, is the incumbent president and a key figure in Nigerian politics. His re‑election bid has attracted attention from across the country, including from groups that traditionally do not belong to the local ethnic composition of Ogun State.
Showunmi’s appeal reflects a broader trend of political mobilisation ahead of the national election, with parties and leaders seeking to broaden their support base beyond traditional constituencies.
