The NDC Integrity Group, a faction of the Nigeria Democratic Congress operating in Benue South Senatorial District, announced on Friday that it will back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 general elections.
Led by Zonal Coordinator Yakubu Audu, the group paid a courtesy visit to Senator Moro at the National Assembly to make the declaration. It also pledged support for the strategic alliance being championed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, in Benue State.
“The voice you have been giving the Benue South Senatorial District in the Senate needs to be sustained in the 11th National Assembly,” Audu said. He added that the group’s choice of Moro over its own senatorial candidate, Daniel Onje, was driven by a desire to maintain effective representation for the district.
State Coordinator Emmanuel Orih explained that the NDC Integrity Group remains a member of the NDC but has adopted an electoral coalition strategy for the 2027 elections. “For the 2027 general election, particularly for Benue South, our concept is electoral coalition, which is making us to prefer Distinguished Senator Abba Moro, the candidate of the PDP, for the senatorial election and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC as our preferred presidential candidate,” he said.
Moro thanked the group for prioritising Benue South’s interests over party lines. He said the position aligned with Akume’s alliance and urged voters to base their choices on concrete achievements rather than promises. “For me, such a person, on the template of reality, should be the preferred presidential candidate to vote for by Benue people and not those that are just at the level of making promises,” he said, citing road projects such as the Abuja‑Keffi‑Makurdi Road and the Otukpo‑Enugu Federal Highway.
He also called on the NDC Integrity Group to apply the same criteria when assessing candidates for the Benue governorship election, stressing that voters should look for candidates who have delivered tangible results.
