Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko, alongside fellow film stars Toyin Abraham, Eniola Badmus, and Bimbo Akintola, have been appointed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos State Campaign Council in preparation for the 2027 elections. The appointments, which also include prominent Fuji musicians Pasuma, Obesere, and Adewale Ayuba, were confirmed in a membership list released by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre on Thursday.
The entertainment figures have been assigned to the party’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, a unit designed to engage the creative sector in the party's electoral strategy. Toke Benson-Awoyinka is listed as the Director of the directorate, with Kosoko serving as Co-Director and Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director. Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, has been named Secretary, while Dare Olateju will serve as Assistant Secretary.
The directorate features a broad representation from the Yoruba film industry, including veteran actor Adebayo Salami, known as Oga Bello, as well as Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri, and Tayo Sobola. The Fuji music sector is also heavily represented, with members including Sulaimon Alao Adekunle, known as Malaika, Akorede Babatunde Okunola, known as Osupa, and Temitope Adekunle, popularly referred to as Small Doctor.
The Lagos APC Campaign Council is chaired by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with Kadri Obafemi Hamzat serving as Deputy Chairman. The council is scheduled for a formal inauguration on Friday, September 18, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road in Ikeja. This event will mark the official commencement of the council's activities, bringing its various directorates and campaign structures into operation.
These appointments occur as political parties across Nigeria intensify their preparations for the upcoming electoral cycle. The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed September 9, 2026, as the official start date for election campaigns, setting the timeline for the 2027 general elections.
