INEC has announced that it is cleaning the National Voter Register with the National Identification Number (NIN) ahead of the 2027 elections in Nigeria.
The Independent National Electoral Commission said the exercise is intended to improve the register's integrity by ensuring that each voter is uniquely identified and that duplicate entries are removed.
Using the NIN helps to prevent multiple registrations and supports the accuracy of the voter list, a critical component of Nigeria's electoral system.
This cleaning is part of INEC's ongoing efforts to maintain accurate voter lists and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
