Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike told reporters that President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027 occupies his thoughts constantly, saying, “I think about Tinubu’s re‑election when sleeping, eating.” Wike made the remarks while touring Rivers State to drum up support for the incumbent president ahead of the next general election.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and a close ally of Tinubu, said his visits to the oil‑rich southeast are part of a broader effort to consolidate the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s base in the region. He emphasized that the president’s development agenda and security initiatives have resonated with local leaders and communities.

The minister added that the APC’s campaign strategy will focus on continuity of policies that, in his view, have “brought stability and economic growth” to Nigeria since Tinubu took office in 2023. He urged party members and supporters in Rivers to remain “unwavering” as the election approaches.

President Bola Tinubu, who was first elected in 2023, is constitutionally eligible to seek a second five‑year term in the 2027 presidential election. His administration has highlighted infrastructure projects, anti‑corruption drives, and efforts to diversify the economy as key achievements.

The comments were reported by Punch Nigeria, which noted that Wike’s statements reflect the high stakes the ruling party places on securing a second term for Tinubu, especially in politically pivotal states such as Rivers.
