In a bid to address the growing “quick‑money” mentality among young people in Anambra, Kingsley Ezekwelu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the House of Representatives in the 2027 elections, has announced a six‑month youth reorientation programme.

The initiative, which will run throughout the year, is aimed at equipping Anambra’s youth with skills and knowledge that encourage long‑term planning and sustainable livelihoods, rather than short‑term gains. Ezekwelu said the programme would focus on entrepreneurship, financial literacy and civic engagement.

Ezekwelu is contesting the 2027 election under the APC banner, a party that has been a major player in Nigerian politics since its formation in 2013. His pledge comes as part of a broader push to win the support of the state’s large young electorate.

Anambra State, located in southeastern Nigeria, has a youthful population that faces high levels of unemployment and informal economic activity. By targeting this demographic, the candidate hopes to curb the allure of quick‑money schemes that often lead to financial instability and social unrest.
