2027: Akpabio backs Tinubu, Eno

Senate President Godswill Akpabio urged Nigerians to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno in the 2027 elections during a ceremony marking the 39th anniversary of the state’s creation in Uyo.

Akpabio said Tinubu “remains a friend of the South‑South zone” and expressed confidence that the president would receive “maximum victory from the region and other parts of the country.”

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a friend of the South‑South zone and he will get maximum victory from the region and other parts of the country,” Akpabio said.

He praised Governor Eno for steering Akwa Ibom’s development through the ARISE Agenda, noting progress in peace, rural development, economic advancement and the welfare of residents. Akpabio added that the state’s progress should “always rise above partisan considerations” and that each generation of leaders has a duty to add another storey to the state’s legacy.

Reflecting on 39 years of existence, Akpabio highlighted the state’s growth into one of Nigeria’s significant regions, attributing its success to industry, resilience and the ingenuity of its people. “Our greatest resource has always been our people,” he said.

He called for renewed determination to create opportunities for young people, promote enterprise and innovation, strengthen communities and preserve peace and unity. Akpabio also urged stronger cooperation between Akwa Ibom and neighbouring Cross River State, citing their historical and cultural ties.

In his anniversary broadcast, Governor Eno said the state’s best chapters were still ahead, highlighting infrastructure, education, healthcare and other projects underway. The Akwa Ibom government plans to commission 39 projects as part of the anniversary celebrations, with President Tinubu expected to commission some of them.
